What is the Difference Between Porcelain Tiles and Ceramic Tiles? It may be easy to get lost in the world of Luxury tile selection that we provide. The distinction between porcelain and ceramic tiles is particularly perplexing because the former is a subset of the latter. Although all porcelain is made of ceramic, not all ceramics may be referred to as porcelain. Continue reading to learn the qualities of ceramic and porcelain tiles as well as how to distinguish between the two. Even though porcelain and ceramic tiles have numerous similarities, it can occasionally be challenging to tell them apart from one another when they are laid. Although both types of tiles are made of clay and burned in a kiln, porcelain is a more specialized form of ceramic with minor distinctions in the materials and manufacturing processes. Accordingly, one may be a bit more advantageous for your project. You may wish to compare porcelain vs. ceramic tiles to see which is better for your needs based on how you plan to utilize the room. You will learn about the distinctions and their ideal applications here. Porcelain Tiles Ultrafine sand and feldspar are also added to the refined clay used to make porcelain tiles. They resemble stone, wood, concrete, or other materials after being changed by being burned at high temperatures in a kiln. Porcelain tiles are a sort of ceramic tile since they are made of clay. However, compared to non-porcelain ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles are more difficult to manufacture, robust, and long-lasting. Porcelain floor tiles, porcelain slabs, and countertop porcelain tiles are all available. Ceramic Tiles Ceramic tiles are created from a particular type of clay (red, brown, and white clay) and are burned in the kiln at a temperature greater than that of porcelain tiles but lower than that of wood, which lowers the water content and makes the tiles less dense, softer, and more porous. It is less durable than porcelain tile because of the less refined clay used in it. Ceramic tile is cheaper and comes in a variety of designs. The Comparison Porcelain tiles Compared to ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles are better made, denser, and less porous. As impermeable tiles, they are ideal for bathrooms and other moist locations since they absorb water. A tile with a poor water absorption rate might absorb stains from food and beverages less thoroughly. Ceramic tiles Water resistance is the primary distinction between porcelain and ceramic tile. Ceramic tiles have a higher water absorption rate and are more porous. It may be used outside and in bathrooms with correct installation and high-quality grout. Porcelain tile As porcelain tile is made of a very solid substance, it is significantly tougher than ceramic tile and can endure continual severe use. Porcelain tile is more resistant to wear and more durable. This makes it perfect for both personal and professional use. Ceramic tiles Porcelain tiles are more durable than ceramic ones. It is also less rigid and more adaptable due to its less thick composition. It is preferable to avoid using them in areas with heavy traffic. We provide tiles with a more organic feel through our ceramic tile manufacturing business in India. Porcelain tiles It is more difficult to install porcelain tiles since they are heavier and denser than ceramic tiles. Its difficulty in being correctly cut through and laid out is what makes it so durable and dependable. To cut it properly, you need a qualified and expert tile installer. Ceramic tiles Comparing ceramic and porcelain tiles, ceramic tiles are less robust and dense. With a snap tile cutter, manual cutting is equally simple. Since ceramic is a softer substance, installation is simple. Porcelain tiles There are many different styles of porcelain tiles, so you do not need to stick with one particular style when investing in them. Porcelain tiles come in a wide variety of looks, including marble, granite, hardwoods, limestone, and many other types of flooring. Porcelain tiles Porcelain tiles are easy to maintain over time and will maintain their original appearance with routine washing. They do not harbor bacteria as certain porous materials do. Porcelain tiles are impermeable, which inhibits the formation of bacteria and mold. Ceramic tiles Ceramic tiles are not only simple to clean, but they also stop mold and bacteria from growing. Since they have a hard surface and are impervious to water and moisture, they are less likely to harbor bacteria and mold. Porcelain tiles Porcelain tiles are undoubtedly more expensive. A Guide To Buying Luxury Laminate Flooring Are you interested in installing luxury laminate flooring in your house or for your workspace? Choosing the right laminate flooring can be a little overwhelming with the innumerous collection of styles and goods available. By providing all the information you require to identify the ideal laminate floor for your application, this guide makes your decision-making process easier. The hottest flooring trend right now is wood-like flooring, and luxury laminate flooring gives homeowners an accessible method to get their desired wood floor look. Despite other emerging fads, vinyl or laminate flooring remains the standard go-to alternative to wood flooring because it is a durable and low-maintenance option. Solid hardwood, stone, and tile are among the top options for raising a home’s value, according to real estate professionals, while luxury laminate flooring comes in second. It might be difficult to navigate the laminate flooring industry, though. Where do you even begin when making a purchase when considering Luxury Vinyl flooring, underlayment, and styles? Important Things To Consider While Buying Laminate Flooring LV Flooring There are other options for durable and simple installation than luxury laminate floors. When you next visit the home center, check out the luxury vinyl (LV) flooring selection. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP), which resembles wood, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT), which resembles ceramic tile. Both are among the world’s easiest flooring kinds to install, very robust, and waterproof to the fullest extent. Luxury vinyl is a fantastic alternative to uneven subfloors because of its flexibility but it is extremely important to level out the surfaces. Underlayment Foam underlayment is required for any luxury laminate flooring. Underlayment gives the floor a somewhat softer feel and stops it from clicking as you walk across it. Due to the subfloor’s minor irregularities being evened out, installing the planks is also made simpler. Self-adhesive tape is sometimes used in underlayment to connect one row to the next. Others demand a different tape. Use whatever is necessary with caution. Purchase the unique tool for installing wood and luxury laminate floors as well. It will be necessary to join the flooring ends where each row touches a wall. Keep wide planks away with an uneven base. Wider planks will be more difficult to snap together over uneven flooring, end joints won’t stay flat with one another, and there will be larger gaps between the planks as you walk on the floor. Therefore, if your concrete or wood flooring is particularly uneven, it would be best to choose a narrower plank type and apply the floor leveling compound thoroughly. Board dimensions The luxury laminate flooring seems more lifelike the thicker it gets. Thicker laminate is also significantly more resilient. You need it to be at least 8mm thick. An excellent, high-quality floor will range in thickness from 8 to 12 mm. A paper-thin floor is not what you want since it will soon wear out and be much harsher on your feet. The environment in the room What goals do you have for your new flooring? Would you want the space to seem larger? If so, use laminate with broad planks or in light colors to lighten the room and give it the impression of being larger. On the other hand, opulent, rich patterns will make the space cozier. Traffic on foot Are you installing the new laminate in a place with a lot of foot traffic? Is it a location where kids and animals could go and perhaps bring dirt with them? Take into account the location of the house as well as the shoes the individuals using the space are wearing. Also bear in mind that pet hair shows out against dark flooring, but dark laminates will show less grime. Both of these difficulties would be well balanced with a beautiful wood laminate. Another excellent choice is a laminate with a stone texture. Associated rooms Examine the adjacent flooring when you are simply changing the flooring in one or two rooms. You don’t want to pick a laminate that contrasts with the flooring you already have. Choose a hue that complements or matches the adjacent rooms. The flooring’s warranty Your flooring should ideally be durable enough to withstand whatever life may throw at it. You should pick a laminate that is covered by a guarantee just in case it doesn’t. The majority of the high-quality ones include a 30-year warranty that covers flaws like peeling, staining, fading, and other things. If you decide on flooring without it, you might want to change your mind. As a result, they don’t stand behind their goods because they are aware that they won’t last that long. You’ll have peace of mind and achieve the appearance you desire with no worry if you hire a professional. One crucial aspect of construction that is sometimes disregarded is the necessity of minimizing interruption to your home and daily routine. It’s important to remember that you may carry on living during a short or lengthy remodeling. The greatest consulting and installation should be provided to you by Paradigm Surfaces. You can contact our professionals whenever you want because we are at your service seven days a week 🙂
Trending Porcelain and Ceramic Tiles The internet has opened a wide spectrum of choices for flooring and this has given homeowners a chance to develop a new taste for their restoration projects. The homeowner community has openly embraced the medium brown hues. Ebony and floors that look like driftwood are now being widely used. The popularity of Ceramic tiles with a wooden look has increased. You have a variety of options when it comes to your floors, but installing new flooring is one of the most effective and affordable ways to completely modernize your house. Terrazzo Tiles The terrazzo style has its roots in commercial settings. It is undoubtedly something you’ve seen in supermarkets and shopping malls, and now you can have it in your house too! Over the past year or two, this style has grown in popularity for domestic use. The terrazzo tiles have a distinctive speckled appearance because they are produced from recycled glass, concrete chips, and marble. The coveted terrazzo effect is now available in porcelain tile. Manhattan Beige Another prevalent tile pattern is what we are witnessing this year. People are particularly selecting vintage-looking tiles for their spacious bathrooms and vacation homes. Due to technology, these ceramic tiles feature anti-skid properties, making them perfect for moist situations. This has an antique vibe to it and puts you in touch with nature. Paradigm Surfaces has a wide variety of vintage look tiles that give an assorted look to your home. Hayloft Oak These softer, lighter wood floors receive their color from blanching, which is a bleaching procedure that turns the wood into a washed-out, ashy white tone. The final product keeps the surface’s original wood grain and preserves all of the timeless beauty of natural wood flooring. Your house may feel larger, brighter, and more comfortable with the aid of bleached wood flooring. This trend emerges in oceanfront houses because, depending on the precise shade you select, white-washed flooring complements coastal or beachy interior designs. Stone look-a-like Tiles Homeowners are using flooring that mimics wood and stone to improve their home’s cool, modern decor is becoming more and more popular. Whether you want to add a touch of luxury with a more ornamental style like marble-look flooring or replicate the natural, lived-in aesthetic of hardwood with wood-look tile. Luxury Vinyl Tile Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring is highly customizable and comes in a broad range of shapes and styles. It’s less prone to cracks, scratches, and water damage because of its incredibly tough wear layer, which is why it’s becoming more and more well-liked among homeowners. It also includes a marble-like appearance. Marble is ideal for providing your home with a sense of high-end luxury without the additional cost and may be used with both traditional and modern-contemporary styles. You can get a sizable selection of stylish and recently designed vinyl flooring at Paradigm Surfaces at the cheapest price. Vinyl flooring is still quite popular, and Paradigm offers limitless selection of high-quality alternatives. Premium Waterproof Laminate Convenience and functionality are now equally vital to aesthetics in flooring. Waterproof laminate flooring would become increasingly popular, and not simply because of its alluringly low price. You may get a sizable selection of stylish, recently created waterproof laminate tiles at Paradigm Surfaces at the lowest prices. Waterproof laminate flooring has a water-resistant layer on top that guards against moisture damage to the surface and subfloors. This wear layer has exceptional scratch resistance, sometimes even better than other kinds of vinyl flooring. As a result, it’s a fantastic real hardwood floor substitute that’s also pet-friendly. Hand-Scraped Engineered Wood Previously exclusively available on solid hardwood, hand-scraped and wire-brushed textures are now employed on many types of flooring to provide the aged, distressed effect. The potential to attain the same character as real hardwood while having better durability and lower cost is one of the appeals of engineered wood flooring. Because of the way they are made, they offer an amazingly realistic hardwood appearance. The top layer is a real hardwood veneer, so you don’t lose out on the true details that give wood floors their distinctive, handcrafted appearance. Featuring hand-scraped finishes and grained patterns, engineered wood flooring may quickly improve your house. It appears that no one is content with conventional materials any longer. Homeowners like flooring products that have undergone additional processing to offer distinctive looks and textures. Buyers are seeking novel and intriguing solutions, whether they be porcelain tiles, fumed wood, blanched flooring, textured tile, or wood-looking tiles. Engineered Hardwood Flooring vs Laminate Flooring Engineered hardwood is typically made out of wood pieces that are glued together to form a plank. It is also glued to the subfloor, which is why it can be installed over concrete or any other type of subfloor. This type of flooring generally has a higher price tag than laminate flooring, but it lasts longer and has more natural appeal. Laminate flooring is made out of a variety of materials, including wood and plastic. The pieces are put together in layers which are then heated and pressed together to create the finished product. This type of flooring does not need to be glued down and can be easily installed over existing floors such as tile or carpet. It also has a lower price point than engineered hardwood floors. What is Engineered Flooring? Engineered wood flooring is very popular made up of three components: a top layer, such as veneer, plywood, or particle board; an underlayment; and an adhesive. The top layer acts as a protective surface while the underlayment provides stability and sound absorption. The adhesive holds the layers together. The materials used in engineered wood flooring are usually chosen for their durability and ease of installation. Engineered wood floors are also easier to maintain than other types of hardwood floors because they do not require sanding or refinishing. Wood Floor Installation: Most engineered wood floors can be installed by following standard DIY installation techniques with some minor adjustments to accommodate thicknesses and weight requirements for different types of products. Engineered Wood Floor Maintenance: With proper care, engineered wood floors should last about 15 years. Pros: You don’t need a contractor to install it. One can easily function with the ease of the installation system Engineered wood can be installed on several levels It can be hand-scraped and smooth which offers an option of adding a natural touch which complements the decor Engineered wood floor is environmentally friendly with 70% repurposed wood waste Cons: Unlike the solid hardwood that’s refinished, engineered wood has thin wood veneer It isn’t suggested for the basements or bathrooms. As these are prone to flooding. You need a water-resistant floor What is Laminate Flooring? Laminate flooring is a type of flooring that is made from a thin layer of high-quality material. It can be installed over an existing surface, such as concrete or wood, or it can be installed on its own as the only surface in the room. Pros: Luxury Laminate flooring is very durable This floor has a strong wear layer to protect the floor from dents & scratches It advances in construction that improves the laminate’s water-resistant abilities It’s simple to maintain and clean without floor waxing Cons: Laminate flooring has water-resistant capabilities, but can’t stand pools of water If you don’t install it properly, laminate floors create an empty and hollow sound. Each product has installation instructions 1. Installation Laminate flooring is attached with simple flooring materials for installation. Their planks have a unique “click-lock” edge treatment where the plank edges float and interlock on the foam layer. Many people find it feasible to enclose a room with laminate flooring. Engineered hardwood is quite simple to install than solid hardwood. You can blind-nail engineered wood to the subfloor with the staples at an angle via board edges. There are several floor floating versions. Simply put, laminate floors are simple for DIYers. 2. Appearance Laminate flooring mimics wood and more materials. However, the quality laminates have a richer embossing of the simulated wood grain textures. That explains why it gives a real wood-like feel. The main benefit of the engineered hardwood floor is that laminate flooring has a real hardwood surface. It looks more realistic than the laminate flooring. Both types of flooring come in several styles and colours. You can easily discover the perfect one which matches your needs. 3. Water – resistant Whatever choice you pick whether it’s engineered hardwood or laminate flooring both are water-resistant to a certain extent. You can see wear layers on these both floors that shut water out. However, laminate flooring’s materials are impenetrable to water compared to wood. The defensive coating keeps the water from moistening the surface floors of the hardwood. Hardwood can pick up and swell if water can pass through the seams. The seams within laminate flooring strips are waterproof or resistant to a certain extent depending on the finishing and series. 4. Care & Maintenance Laminate is simple to care for if maintained on a regular basis. You can clean it easily without any extensive cleaning tools. Don’t use a mop, as water could harm the laminate flooring. Whereas a slippery surface can cause physical damage. Engineered hardwood flooring is equally simple to take care of, avoiding a lot of water exposure that comes with mopping as well as steam mops. Washing the flooring with a strong acid solution is a big no. Along with day to day care avoid dragging heavy things across the floor. After a few years of installation, if you feel the original colour of the flooring is fading away a light coding of oil on the surface can do wonders. 5. Cost Both engineered hardwood and laminate flooring prices vary depending on many key factors such as variation, plank dimensions, origin etc. Prices rise with engineered wood flooring due to it being a natural wood product vs faux production. The high rating leads to high prices. Engineered floors have a high price based upon the top wood veneer brand, style, and thickness. If the price has a vital role in the decision, then luxury laminate flooring is definitely more cost effective

Floor Maintenance Cleaning and Maintaining your floors are key to their longevity. By ensuring your floors are clean you can prevent stains, scratches, and unwanted grime building up. Understanding what maintenance your floors need will keep them looking beautiful for many years to come. We want to make sure that you understand exactly what it takes to clean and properly maintain your SPC, Engineered Wood, Laminate, and Tile floors. SPC Vinyl SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) Vinyl floors are waterproof and extremely durable, but that doesn’t mean they don’t require any maintenance. Keeping these floors clean is relatively easy. Sweep or vacuum with no beater bar, make sure you clean spills immediately, and damp mop (not wet mop) with any gentle floor cleaner that is characterized by low chemical percentages. You can prevent scratches by putting mats at outside doors where you come in with shoes and by putting felt pads on the bottom of all your furniture/accessories. SPC floors are an excellent option if easy maintenance and durability are important to you, and they come in a wide range of styles! Engineered Wood Engineered Wood is absolutely beautiful, but does require a significant amount of maintenance. Clean your hardwood with a damp mop with gentle floor cleaners and sweep regularly to keep it free of debris. Make sure to never get these floors soaking wet as it can cause the wood to warp and buckle. Hardwood flooring will age over time and the coated stain can change with exposure to UV light. You can protect the wood floors with rugs and window coverings that help keep the sun off the floor. Rotate the furniture and accessories around to even out the exposure if there are significant windows nearby that capture the natural light and rays. Types of Engineered Wood There are different finishes for Engineered Wood, Hardwax Oil, UV Oil, or Lacquer. All of these require slightly different maintenance, but all require maintenance care. For Hardwax Oil and UV Oil surfaced floors, give them an oil refresher every 6 months and a maintenance oil every 2-3 years by buffing the appropriate oil into the floors. Lacquered floors require cleaning with lacquer soap biweekly. Bona and Woca are highly recommended wood cleaning agents from our manufacturers! When looking for everyday floor cleaners, avoid ones that leave an oily residue, you only need to add these to some hardwood floors every few months. Laminate Laminate flooring is easy to maintain, but can still be affected by moisture and scratches. Keep clean by mopping with a damp mop, and sweeping regularly. Avoid items that can scratch the floor because unlike hardwood, these can’t be fixed without replacing the damaged section or planks. Clean wet spills immediately to prevent seeping into the floor edges for further water damage. For floor maintenance use rugs in high traffic areas and keep a regular cleaning schedule. Cleaners with low chemical content can be used if simple water mopping does not remove stubborn stains or spills. Tiles Flooring tiles are extremely hardy and characterized by top specifications and quality but still do require regular maintenance that varies depending on your tile. For ceramic tiles, since they are recommended for wall applications, clean with items that are low chemical content to protect the surface of the tile. You can clean these tiles with a simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap. Porcelain tiles can handle highly resilient cleaning power. Use a soft bristled brush and scrub in a mixture of vinegar and warm water for example, and let set for a few minutes before rinsing with water and wiping dry with a towel. Any tile cleaners with certain chemicals can also be used if specific mention is present for porcelain surfaces. Whichever flooring brand you end up going with it’s always best to clean with the manufacturers recommended cleaning agent to ensure your floors longevity. Choosing a floor for your kitchen can be a challenge. On one hand, you want a type of flooring that is water resistant and highly durable for all those liquid spills and pan drops. On the other hand, it has to be beautiful and stylish (it’s where you’ll spend most of your time!). What if we told you that you could have it all? Here is why tile flooring is an excellent option for your kitchen. It will hold up to any and all wear, is resistant to water damage and it comes in many different options – it can be hard to choose just one that you would want in your kitchen! When you’re looking for tile, consider your personal style, the colour tones and style of your home, and the physical space you have to work with. There are numerous options that suit a multitude of different needs and wants, varying from overall finish to coating specifications of the flooring. Porcelain Tiles One of the most popular types of tile is porcelain. Porcelain isn’t just available as a flat white tile in your basic kitchen anymore. Porcelain tiles come in a variety of colours, sizes, shapes and prints, all suitable for any home and any style. New porcelain tiles can even look compellingly similar to wood, marble or rustic stone flooring. Popular for its versatility, stain and water resistance, this is a great choice for any kitchen, especially if you have kids or pets that tend to make a mess. This selection kicks things up a notch in the water resistance and durability department. The high-quality products sold at Paradigm are extremely eco-friendly and is a great addition to modern “green” homes. An example of a timeless porcelain tile pattern is marble look, available as Carrara or Calacatta for example. Prized for its sweeping veins and rich dimension, this tile looks incredible and has been a staple of high-end homes for years. We love using large tiles (such as a 24”x48” format) to capture the natural elegance of this tile look and to continue vein patterns without as many grout interruptions. Selecting a tile for your floor is a personal decision, and your lifestyle plays a role in what direction you choose to go. You need a flooring that suits your life and won’t be a hindrance or require an expensive replacement. We have advanced options for you in porcelain tile and much more! Our team specifically carries designer flooring selections of top specifications.
